2nd Grade

We currently have two 2nd grade classrooms with a maximum of 20 students per classroom. Our teachers are Mrs. Nee, who was awarded the 2024 Teacher of the Year for the NH Diocese, and Mrs. Garcia. These teachers teach their students independently as well as collaboratively at times.

Curriculum: In second grade, students build on early skills to become more fluent readers, writers, and mathematicians. Our reading curriculum focuses on phonics, spelling, vocabulary, and reading comprehension skills. Second graders learn to write engaging stories with a clear structure and proper grammar. In second grade, students learn to master addition and subtraction with regrouping. Math skills include time, money, graphing, word problems, and an introduction to multiplication. Our literacy program includes science and social studies. Topics include American holidays, cause and effect, geography, and historical figures. Religion is incorporated into our daily curriculum. Social-emotional and problem-solving skills are also integrated throughout our school days with a strong focus on our monthly virtues.
